From Pixels to Sawdust: My Woodworking Journey
Hi, my name is Felicia!
Background
My journey into woodworking began during the lockdowns of 2020. We were all stuck indoors and going a little mad! On May the 4th (Star Wars Day) I had an idea “What if we bought a giant lego set and during breaks from homeschooling and work, we work together as a family to build it”.
Over the next few months, we thoroughly enjoyed building the 4,784 piece Imperial Star Destroyer! This impressive, nearly 4ftx2ft starship then presented a new design challenge: how to display it?
Faced with an awkward wall in our basement media room, the idea of a floating shelf arose. Yet, finding one strong enough for such a behemoth proved impossible. My now husband brilliantly suggested, "What if we built it ourselves?" That simple question sparked an immediate curiosity and set me on an unexpected path.
Starting with nothing more than basic tools, we embarked on a journey to build the largest floating shelf I’d ever seen. Along the way I discovered a deep satisfaction of working with my hands, the exciting challenge of innovating custom solutions, the empowerment of gaining confidence using large power tools historically I’d only ever seen used by men, and the immense pride of seeing a vision come to life!
It shouldn’t have come as much of a surprise that I would love woodworking as much as I did given my day job as a Software Engineer. My favorite aspects – designing, innovating, building, and seeing a product come to life – previously expressed through code, found a new and tangible outlet in wood. I also loved mentoring, supporting, and helping others grow which naturally led to my role as a Manager. As much as I loved my job, a calling to pursue my passion for woodworking full-time grew stronger. In May 2025, after more than 10 years, I took the giant leap and left my job at Google to launch my own woodworking business!
Goals and Values
Through Cascadia Cuts, my goal is to bring that same passion and dedication to creating beautiful, high quality woodworking solutions for others! I use the finest materials, am a detailed craftsman, and provide top notch customer service. I truly want my clients to be delighted with the pieces they choose for their homes or as gifts for others.
Through my new DIT (Do It Together) program, I also aim to continue my love for coaching and collaboration. This unique program offers clients the opportunity to be actively involved in the creation of their pieces. Together, we'll collaborate, with me providing guidance and expertise at every step, allowing you to learn new skills and have a truly personal connection to your finished piece.

Still want to know more!?
Beyond the woodshop, I love adventure, challenging my body, and spending time with my family, closest friends, and our furry Malamute (her sister recently passed away).
I love adventure whether it be in the mountains skiing, snowboarding, hiking, backpacking, or in the water snorkeling, scuba diving, jet skiing, or cannonballing, or in the sky flying to a new destination to explore. I rock climb, and play soccer on a rec co-ed team. Essentially, I love trying new things and pushing my body to its limit, sometimes too much …
I am also a board game and video game nerd! We have acquired quite the board game collection, and when traveling we can often be seen packing a board game or two… or three with us for evening fun.
