Why do it yourself, when we can do it together?
The rise of technology and online resources being freely and readily available, has fueled the DIY (do it yourself) trend. DIY is a great concept that has the potential to teach new skills, save money compared to hiring a professional, and provide a sense of pride for having been able to solve the issue or create a thing that meets your needs on your own.
I am a huge fan of DIY for certain projects, but for others, it feels too overwhelming / too large an undertaking to do by myself if I don't already have some of the required skills. There is the fear of making mistakes and not knowing how to fix them, or the project may require specialized tools, or entail interpreting complex instructions.
For this type of project, rather than hire a professional to do it for me, I've often wished for a mentor, someone to guide me through the project, enabling me to build skills for future endeavors and to still have the feeling of pride and accomplishment.
'Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.'
The spirit of this proverb and my 5-years in woodworking, inspired a new idea, the concept of 'DIT' - Do It Together. Instead of DIY, what if we focused on collaborative learning? Imagine crafting custom wood furnishings, decorations, or kitchen items, tailored to your needs, space, and preferences, with expert guidance. This DIT model provides personalized mentorship, allowing you to gain confidence and independence, create unique pieces, and join a people-centered building community.
So let me ask you,
- Do you live in the Seattle area?
- Do you have an idea for something you want, but can’t find online?
- Do you desire unique or custom made items?
- Do you have an interest in learning woodworking skills through a collaborative DIT experience?
Reach out to me felicia@cascadiacuts.com and let’s discuss how to make your idea a reality!
Let's build something together!
